How much did it set you back? I peruse ebay every couple of weeks, but the engines that are at a decent price are generally back east. Crappy engines in L.A. go for more than I want to spend.
Congrats!

I got it for $1,500. It came from a 38k mile 1995 Camaro and this was confirmed back through the ownership chain. Apparently this car was a fair weather car and was babied. The guy who was selling it was doing a project where he was putting it into a 944 but the company that made the custom pieces to make it bolt up stopped making them and he was left with a 944 and LT1.
This is probably a little higher than market value for a used LT1 but in my 3-year search, I never came across one that I felt I could install with any confidence since the history was really unknown. ...and I don't have the time, money or skill set to rebuild one... I had actually planned on a Jasper engine (about $2,600) if my race engine expired and I didn't have a replacement. Now I have a replacement I can trust so I have a wide rpm range to play in.

Sweet! If/when the time comes to pull the old one, I'd like to help. Seriously. If I ever need to pull mine for whatever reason, the experience gained helping you will make the job that much easier for me.

I hear taking it out the bottom is the way to go.

If you are willing to sentence yourself to a day or two of pain, then by all means come over and be pissed off with me for a day... Hahahaha

Howdy,
Jeff, you don't have any potential home drywall projects coming up do you?
:-)

Actually, I'm in the middle of one right now. I'm redoing a walk-in closet at my parents' house.
Why? Need some help with your garage?

Howdy,
Yeah, I could use some help.
Mostly I was joking though... :-)

pulling motors isn't bad at all, can even be a good time if you don't mind taking 2 or 3 days and have a friend or two around to B.S. with.
