I'm going to be at Beaver Run this weekend crewing for the AV8SS car again. Is anyone here going to be there? And/or, is anyone here bored and interested in helping out? If you've ever wondered what a race weekend is like, here's your chance. I expect to roll in late Friday night and head home on Sunday evening. What happens in between is usually the stuff of legends, rumors and tales that nobody believes anyway.....

Kevin I would normally jump at the chance for that kind of learning experience. The only thing that is stopipng me, is I am in the middle of moving 900 miles. I have never helped out in the pits but I have turned wrenches quite a bit and have some common sence.
Well now that I reread your post and didn't see a date, I might be able to pull it off, if it isn't in the immediate future. I understand if you are looking for a person with more experience but I can follow directions as well as the next guy. Let me know and good luck either way.
Edit: Just noticed thread title, I guess that why I knew I couldn't do it. Good luck and have fun!

Yea, it's this weekend.
If you can check air pressure, torque lug nuts and run a stop watch, we have plenty for you to do. If you can do more than that, it's a bonus and you'd have a ball. Sorry you can't make it.

Howdy,
Um, didn't the stock car guys cancel this weekend's event at BeaveRun?
That's the story I got at a local SCCA meeting anyway...
If you guys are running, I guess I'd be interested. I'd like to screw around a bit at some car races to see how the deal works a little closer.
I don't have to get dirty do I?
:-)

Howdy,
Ok, just looked at BeaveRun's site. Looks like they're doing some AV8SS deal combined with a track day?
Anyway, I'm up for helping I guess. What're the details on when you need me there, who I should be looking for, if I need to bring any tools/clothes/whatever, etc. etc. etc. etc.? I assume this isn't a paying gig or anything, right?
I was supposed to work on my damn MR2 to try and get that thing back together but this seems like more fun. :-)

I'm getting in late Friday night. I'm guessing we'll be up early, so show up anytime. You'll be looking for the orange '71 Mach I of www.darkhorseracing.net. If things go well, you'll not get too dirty. If they go badly, you might get really dirty.
Yes, it's AV8SS. And, it's all for glory, no pay.....

Next time you guys head up to Limerock, I'd be glad to help, and offer a place to crash if needed (about 45 minutes SE from the track...).

Thanks Andris. I'd have to look at the schedule and see if we'll be up that way (I've not looked, but I don't usually make the whole schedule of events).

I was up there and hanging out in the morning saturday. Definitely not a good showing for the track day. Awesome day, not a cloud in the sky.

I wish I'd known, I was there with the Darkhorse Racing team (the orange and black 71 Mustang Mach one shown in the AV8SS banner above), actually, Marka and I were both there. It's always nice to put names with faces, maybe next time.

He had some gearbox issues didn't he? Loud car for sure. I was there with the Blue STI and Silver EVO that were running the track day.

Yea, we swapped the transmission between qualifying and the race on Saturday.

The other thing I notice is the car had a lot of hop going down the front straight. Is he running a light spring rate in the car due to regulations or something?
Kevin you have your car at the track?

Nope, the best we can guess (without a teardown) is that the front shocks don't have any oil left in them.....

. When he pitted after the first outing, I told him "We need to talk about shocks", He said "What about them". I said "We need to get some and put them on the car"...... We cranked them up on "kill" and it made no difference at all. I really think all 4 shocks are completely wasted. I used to live in the same town (well, close by) him, now he's in Georgia and I'm in Ohio, so I can't fix things in advance anymore.
My car was in the pits, I didn't drive it on track any. I need to change front hubs (stuck in the spindles) and rear wheel bearings and it needs rear pads soon. So, it wasn't track ready by a long shot. No point breaking anything expensive. But it was in the pits right down from the trailer, had a huge frrax.com sticker on the top of the back window.
