Ok, Corbeau is out. I've tried them, and the sliders would probably only fit for someone 5'5"-5'6" or taller. Anybody with Momo, Sparco, or other seats installed in an f-body that can give some feedback on this? Even if you could just move the seat all the way forward and take some measurements (to front of seat, and to front of seat back from a common point). These stock seats just aren't doing the job for open track events, and we have to have something that the wife and I can both fit in (I'm 5'9", she's 5'0"-5'1").

I am in the same boat... I tried to get my wife to grow...

I want to hear other people's thoughts on seats too.

well i guess im in the same boat to, my wife is only 5'3" and im 6'1" So i was thinking of the Forza but you said it wouldn't work, is it the seat or the slider?

Make two different brackets that bolt to the stock floor mounts?

Just an idea, that much of a height change might make this the best option. Wouldn't be too hard. I can have a seat out of an F-body in 10 minutes.

Any way you can make some foam inserts to put on the bottom and back of the seat (enduro race style)?

That is exactly what a good friend of mine does. They have and Audi 80, with cobra racing seats. When his wife drives it, she uses foam inserts to so she can reach everything.

I'm not positive, but I think the problem with the Corbeaus is the bracket itself. When I had the A4s, I was only 1 or 2 stops back from full forward and I'm 5'9". There is no way that she would have been able to reach the pedals even with a foam insert. I may call Corbeau and ask them about it as their seats are about the best priced out there, but then I wasn't that pleased with the A4s anyway. The quality on them just wasn't that great: one of the plastic pieces in the shoulder harness pass throughs broke after about a week without every being touched by a belt, and the lumbar area of the seat was really irritating (felt like a 1" ridge in the middle of my back).

At this point, I'd much rather spend the money for some good seats, but I want to make sure they'll fit the wife before I order them (wouldn't want to pay return shipping even if I could return them).

Oh yeah, can't do the swap seats deal as we could be running back to back sessions in a pinch (like we did last Saturday).

Same here, Im in hpde3 which usually run's right before 1&2. So we will have to switch car & helmet in pitlane or pregrid unsure.gif So i would not want to add more of a delay to this process.

can't you simply modify the slidder so that you get enough travel out of it ?
shouldn't be rocket science...

Yeah it isn't that hard.....4 bolts.....4 holes....move it.

Now why they couldn't do it from the get go...I have no idea, but when I got my Forza's they wouldn't clear the door bars so I had to move the seats over, which put them center'd behind the wheel anyway. If you need a few more inches you can move them on the slider frame at least 4" farther forward from where they have them.

Not yet, I've got a couple of emails out to seat vendors, but no definite info yet. I may just end up trying some Sparcos as I've been thinking about seats for the Porsche anyway (can save 70lbs by dumping the Porsche sport seats), so if they don't fit the Firehawk I can use them in the Porsche.

Just an update in case anyone is interested. I found a pair of Recaro Orthoped seats on Ebay, that were custom done in grey leather for SLP for a Camaro SS (and therefore match the Hawk's interior).

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...item=7975906911

Got a really good deal on them ($550 for the pair, new they'd probably go for over $5000 for the pair in custom color leather blink.gif ), and got them in the car Wednesday evening. They definitely have WAY more side bolstering than the stock seats, and actually fit my wife for driving the car. They have to be all the way forward, so anyone shorter than 5' probably can't use them in their stock setup, but there is room on the brackets that you could redrill the holes and probably get them another inch or two forward. The brackets are also height adjustable, which is a big help since my wife needs the seat higher than what I like. You have to remove two bolts (we only raised the back) to adjust, but it wouldn't take more than a few minutes to change it at the track (I can live with her setting for street driving).
Also, you DEFINITELY get what you pay for. These seats are WAY better quality than any other aftermarket seat I've ever seen, and are also better than most OE seats as well.

Anyway, if I'd been buying something new I probably wouldn't have chosen this model as the seat bases are fairly flat (for easy entry/exit), but for the price I couldn't pass them up. So for those of you looking for seats that will fit someone down to 5' tall (or even a little shorter with work), Recaros should definitely do the trick.
