I have a 99’ Z28 that came with the 1LE package. The car has no foglamps. I am wanting to put some type of additional lighting on the car in addition to my headlights that are already on the car. There have been many occasions where the factory headlights even on bright were just not adequate or safe enough.
I was looking at Cibie or PIAA/Marchall lamps. Has anyone installed these on their car? Has anyone installed anything of this type in the factory foglamp location? Since my car came from the factory without them, did they leave off the brackets and connectors in that area. I was even looking at an aftermarket grille insert and just mounting them in the openings that are on the grill insert. Has anybody done that? Would I need to look at a higher output alternator?

You might find it easier and get more effective driving lights if you looked at some PIAAs or the like. The driving lights on my '94 Z28 barely even show up on the road. The PIAAs I had on my Firebird were worlds better.

That's exaclty where I was going with that. I wasn't even thinking about OEM lamps. I'm really not looking at a DOT legal lamp. I just wanted to know what I'll need as far as hardware for the mounting, because my car
never ever had them.

I will second what Mike says. The stock stuff sucks and you can hardly tell they are even on. My 01 they look cool looking at the car but they don't do a damm thing. A nice set of 50 Watt PIAA and your all set. John

I was on the Marchall/PIAA site and that's the direction I was going. I had some of their stuff on my 86' SVO Mustang and I really like their stuff. I was even looking at landing gear lights, but that needs a different electrical system all together.

The piaa kits should come with a switch and wiring instructions. All you need is a ground (frame near the bumper) the mounts which it will come with, just find a good place that doesn't look horrible, and a switch.
Best bet is to find a round set that will fit in the factory fog lamp holes in the bumper.
I would just hit a parts store and take a look at some of the kits. Almost everyone carries them.
