I have 4 Forgeline RS wheels for sale. These were used as race rims and have some pits and such in the finish from track use. They are not show condition wheels, but are in good shape (round and lightweight). 2 wheels are 17x11's and 2 are 17x9.5's. I bought these to run on my car and have decided not to use them (and I need the space in my garage back, I've got 3 sets of wheels and this set of rims in my garage at this time). I'm only asking what I have in them (the retail price on these are about $2000 for the set of four).
$650 plus freight (they are still boxed up in my garage).

I sent him the ones you gave me. If they are the correct size and offset for me then i'll take them, if not im going to have to pass. Damn stock class rules....

2 of them are 9.5", 2 are 11" wide. I don't think they will work for any stock class Camaro/Firebird.
Nevermind, you have a Corvette now.....

You're up. He ran into something and needed to hang onto his cash for a while. I can measure the backspacing for you and post it here.

Sounds good, but you may want to dbl check to see if its printed on the rim, most are.
trackbird
Dec 29 2004, 04:30 AM
17x9.5 = 6 7/8" backspacing
17x11 = 8 3/16" backspacing
I measured them tonight.

2 piece wheels, I don't see it marked anywhere on the rim.

My math isnt coming our right, how many MM's is that?
trackbird
Dec 29 2004, 04:35 AM
Convert the rim width to mm, then convert the backspacing to mm, subtract one from the other.
trackbird
Dec 29 2004, 04:38 AM
11's
279.4 mm = 11"
212.725 backspacing = 8 3/16
66.675 offset for 11's
9.5's
241.3 = 9.5"
174.625 backspacing = 6 7/8
66.675 offset
Does that look right to you?
25.4mm per inch

I was getting 41mm for the fronts and 55mm for the backs, seams kinda off. Did you have these on your fbody before, if not what kinda car were they used/made for?

I think my math is wrong. These were used on a firebird. I've never run them, I bought them used and decided not to run them. I did test fit the rear wheel on my F-body and it looks like it will fit with no problems.
You could pull your wheel and measure the backspacing. We can convert that to MM and see if it is within tolerances. That may be the most accurate way (since I'm not sure that either of us figured that correctly).

Dec 29 2004, 04:55 AM
Im not as worried about the fit as I am them being legal. My car is run in A-Stock and I need a 17x9.5 w/ 56mm front and 17x11 50mm in the rear. Rules say that I can go +/-.25 of an inch, but thats all. I would measure my 17x9.5's, but I don't have any 17x11's to look at. Offset for the front should be at 2.2 and the rears at almost 2 inches.
trackbird
Dec 29 2004, 04:58 AM
I knew you were worried about being legal, that's why I was thinking we could measure what you have, I didn't know you didn't have any 11's. Hmmm....
231go
Dec 29 2004, 05:03 AM
Yeah, I did my oz's which i know are a 17x9 56mm offset and came out w/ 57mm, close enough. And I did all the math the same way we are doing these.
I need it to be around 9inchs deep for the rears and 7.3 for the front.
trackbird
Dec 29 2004, 05:05 AM
We need to be +/- 6.35mm by my math.
Did you measure and calcutate a set of known wheels? Is that what you were saying?
231go
Dec 29 2004, 05:06 AM
Yeah, when I measured them I came out w/ 57mm after doing the math. The wheel has 56mm printed on it which is the stock vette size.
trackbird
Dec 29 2004, 05:07 AM
Not looking legal for you from what I can see.
231go
Dec 29 2004, 05:10 AM
Yeah, and you are sure that you measured them correctly? This is going to suck if I have to pass on this.
trackbird
Dec 29 2004, 05:11 AM
I layed a steel straight edge (yard stick) across them and measured with a brand new (unstretched) tape measure. I'm sure they are the right numbers.
231go
Dec 29 2004, 05:15 AM
Just checking, 66mm just seams like a high and strange offset number to me. Thats almost a third of an inch from stock and seams like it would cause some rubbing, i dunno....
trackbird
Dec 29 2004, 05:18 AM
I'm going to guess that your math is correct and mine is not. And, if you just calculated known wheels and it worked, I'm going to trust your numbers more than my own.
231go
Dec 29 2004, 05:21 AM
My Math
9.5- 6 7/8=2.63 * 25.4 =66.6mm
11-8 3/16=2.813 * 25.4=71mm
trackbird
Dec 29 2004, 05:25 AM
Hmmm. He said he ran a small spacer on the rear, but when I test fit them, I didn't see where it was needed (actually, it may have stuck the wheels out past my fender to space them much at all, but firebirds have or seem to have wider fenders).
231go
Dec 29 2004, 05:27 AM
I don't see how they would have stuck out, wouldnt the 71mm offset be more sunk in than the standard 50mm?
trackbird
Dec 29 2004, 05:29 AM
I meant that they would stick out with a spacer (such as a 3/8ths). They look to fit "perfect" on my car as is (I didn't have tires on them at the time) and seemed to be right where I expected them to fit.
231go
Dec 29 2004, 05:33 AM
For the backs to be legal I would need over a 3/4 spacer. As much as I hate to say it, but I think im going to have to pass. Unless for some freak reason you got your original numbers wrong, these aren't going to work for me.
trackbird
Dec 29 2004, 05:35 AM
That is what I was thinking..... Bummer. I know the backspacing measurements are correct. Damn.
I'm off to bed for the evening.

isn't offset calculated from the centerline of the rim?

Ok. Now that I'm awake, I just refigured it. The specs are:
F: 17x9.5 60.325mm backspacing
R: 17x11 68.2625mm backspacing
I think the math works on those numbers. I was figuring 3/16 as 3/8ths last night among other problems.....

I think the fronts may be legal, the rear may need a 13mm (1/2") spacer to be legal. Based on a tolerance of 6.35mm (.25"). You needed a 56mm front, these are 60.325. The rears are 68.2625mm and you need 50mm, so a 1/2" spacer would get you "there".
That makes more sense.

I still think im going to pass. I would need to run a big spacer just to be legal, and if anything I wanted to leave room for a 1/4" spacer on top of the stock 50mm offset in case I have clearance issues w/ the 335's. I wish you were a little closer so that I could throw them on and see just how much clearance I would have, ow well..

According to my rough calculations I get that the fronts are 42mm offset and the rears are 56mm.
See this site for a good visual reference:
http://www.skulte.com/adapterfaq.htmlA 50mm 17x11 has 7.93" of backspacing. so if yours measures 8 3/16"; that is about 1/4" more or 56mm
A 38mm offset 17x9.5 has 6.7" of backspacing. so yours measures 6 7/8"; that is about 3/16" more or about 42mm.
