Anybody else "discovered" Wal Mart for tire mounting? Got two Hoosiers mounted today for a grand total of $13.68 (no balancing but included new valve stems and dismounting two tires off said rims). Although YMMV depending on the service writer who happens to be working. The guy here had to check with his tire changer dude to see if he could mount the 275/45/16's on 16X8 rims. rolleyes.gif He didn't know (yet) they were Hoosiers with mucho-stiff sidewalls. ph34r.gif

I imagine if I go in there enough, they won't question me anymore.

Wal Mart -- sometimes the necessary evil.

Best thing about Wal-Mart and the tire center....

They will discard old race tires for less than a dollar a piece...Even if you are not getting more tires. And after you go there a time or two and know where they put them the only time it takes is to print a ticker inside, and for you to throw them out. I just skip waiting for help rolleyes.gif

I threw away an entire bed full of tires a while back and it was less than $5.

The people there are definitely idiots...I got two ecsta mx's mounted for 6$. They didn't understand that I had the tires in the truck, she started looking in her catalog for tires to fit it, I told her again, they are in the truck! They put the tires on backwards, so I made them do it again. Not bad for $6 though.

I hate walmart!
but I can't help myself and I use them to mount my tires. $3.50/tire to mount, no balancing. I wouldn't go there if I had some nice wheels i.e. CCW et al, they can handle the cheapo stockers just fine.

That is the dilema I am having.

I need these AFS wheels broken down and my tires put on my Fikse. I usually have Hoosier Tom do it since he is just down the road. But tis the season that he is mucho busy....

I need to find a place THIS WEEKEND that will mount tires on my Fikse and not screw them up. Nice to have nice wheels. Except the whole caring about them thing... rotf.gif

Hmmm I guess I could trust them with my curb rashed '89 vette wheels. thumbup.gif I got it stuck to me for $15/tire last time-but it was our local SCCA sponsor so they sold me the kumho's dirt cheap to begin with.

Yeah, I used Wal-Mart for my mounting... Hoosiers $14/set to mount. This is 275/40R17 on 17x9's.

They also throw out tires for free smile.gif

Ordinarily I hate Wal-Mart, but not many places can mount them and I don't know if there is a place that can do it that cheaply.

Whoa, I didn't know that. This is going to come in handy. Thanks a bunch.

This same Wal Mart also has 5-quart jugs of Mobil 1 synthetic for under $20!

The key to shopping at Wal Mart is to go on a Monday or Tuesday night (at least around here). You avoid the majority of mouth breathers and white trash and crying babies. Of course, if you want real entertainment, you go to a 24-hour store at 1 a.m. on a Friday or Saturday night. Like in Winchester, VA, or Charles Town, WVA. biggrin.gif

The thing I hate most about Wal Mart is how people who are leaving are willing to risk their damn lives when walking out the door.

Because hey, why look for 4,000lbs of steel coming strait at you?

Don't forget the one at the Martinsburg Mall. I used to live there and still go back to visit family (where are you from Pat?).

I don't live around there but Karen does, and I've been to the one in Charles Town several times. I went to the Wal Mart in Winchester a few years ago the night before a track day at Summit Point. And of course both of those stores are about 30 minutes from Summit.

Yup, monkeydom exists at this Wal Mart. I went back to the same Wal Mart yesterday to get some old Bridgestone S03's mounted on Karen's black car (the tires on it now are toast and I don't want to hydroplane out to Topeka wink.gif). The Bridgestones are 245/45/16, and the same service writer said they couldn't mount 45 series tires. It didn't dawn on me until Karen mentioned it when I got home that the Hoosiers I had mounted there Saturday were 275/45's. rolleyes.gif
