UPDATE
The CHP found my trailer, called me and got a build sheet for a search
warrant and got the car. The bastard who took it is in jail. He was the
guy from Castro Valley involved in the high speed chase this past week in
Pittsburg. I won't see the car until Tuesday and hopefully the court won't
keep it too long. It has some damage but is basically intact.
Not sure what this Karma was all about except it made me realize just how
much I love racing and the folks I've met in the last 15 years. Thanks for
all the support and your network. It was the Internet chatter that led the
crook to send text messages to get rid of the car that led to the finding of
it in a storage unit in Pittsburg.
Please pass the word. Even a secure remote location is not. And be sure you
are totally locked up. I think I'm going to look into video survellance
too.
Thanks,
Jim Black
Great news! I've wondered from the start, what the hell was he going to do with a race car? It's so easy to identify, it's not like it's just another white camery or something.
I keep my boat on the trailer at a storage unit. It's $50/mo, it's well lit, has video surveillance, and my favorite, you can't see the boats from the road. I've thought about locks and whatnot, but if someone wants a boat, a chain or lock isn't going to stop them.
Someday when I have this CMC car finished and I have an enclosed trailer, I'm probably going to keep the car in the trailer and in the same storage facility, just to free up some garage space.
I wonder if there's a way to insure the race car for something like theft?
