Please help me fix this problem. banghead.gif
The oil pan Ive installed on new motor will not allow the exhaust pipe to run under the oil pan.
My passenger side exhaust pipe is fine. Whats the best way to run the drivers side exhaust
by the slave cylinder and down the drivers side with kick out by back tire behind driver?
Also, As long as exhaust is behind the driver it is legal for racing???

I don't have an IROC so not sure about exhaust around oil pan issues but if you run exhaust in front of tire you may run into issues heating the rear tire up. As far as legal goes, as long as you meet db levels you should be fine.

I'd recommend fabbing up a new trans cross member and routing the pipes along the sides of the trans, then under the trans crossmember tucked as tightly as possible then into a single exhaust dumped wherever you want. There is no room to run a pipe down the driver's side of the trans tunnel without loosing lots of ground clearance. Your ground clearance will already be bad enough trying to get pipes past a T56. The other option you have if you must run a pipe down the driver's side is to curve out towards the side of the car right behind the front A-arm and run the pipe down the pinch weld where subframe connectors usually are located.

Thanks for that info. I have the sophn t56 torque arm with saft loop. After looking at the room between oil pan and cross member, could a pipe be bent in an oblong shape enough to fit in? I don't know how but i may be in good enough shape to make this happen. i'll send pics if I pull it off for others to see. If not I'll use your recomendation. Thanks

Would oval tubing help?

It’s a lot of work so I’m not sure I fully recommend it, and with your T56 you are going to have problems getting the pipe through on the driver’s side of the trans, but here is what I did on my car: http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/index.php?showtopic=13533 maybe it will give you some ideas.

The case on a T56 is huge compared to your spindly little 4spd. He'll never get a pipe past it unless he cuts the tunnel up.

Hit up thirdgen.org and go to the exhaust forum and check out the sticky at the top of the board with pix of true dual setups. Most of the setups are garbage, but there are some good ideas in there....
