Sorry for the P/U question, BUT there is A LOT of suspension knowledge here !!!
My friend has some almost new take-off from his 1999 Silverado 1500 ... I have found that with some brands that the part #'s are different from my 1998 K1500 ... Anyone know if they would fit ? (1998's SHOCKS same as the 1999's )
The shocks in question are RANCHO 5000's .. prob not the most desirable, but with less than 5k on them they have too be better than my 145k stockers ...

You're asking if you can put shocks for a GMT800 chassis on a GMT400 chassis. The front suspensions are somewhat different, that is where I think the problem will be, but it's just a hunch. I'd hit up www.fullsizechevy.com and search there, someone might know.

I guess you already tried checking the part numbers for the different years. If they are different, I would say you're out of luck. Is his truck a 4x4?

Being a K1500, I'd guess it is a 4X4.

They won't fit unless you've got one of the rare '99 OBS Silverado's. There actually were OBS 1/2 ton Silverados made as '99 model year trucks.

Yea we did dome more checking and pretty much came to the conclusion that they wouldn't work ...
On a side note one of my F body friends has one of those 1999 Classics .. he just has to tell parts counter persons that it's a '98 or he gets the wrong stuff

HIS truck is a K series, he didn't mention whether or not his friends truck was....simply that it is a 1999 Siverado 1500. What the heck is an OBS Silverado?

OBS = old body style, as in 88-98 (or 99 for a few trucks).
