My friend had tickets to fly to DFW to see relatives and her flight was cancelled. She wasn't amused.

I can't imagine what Texan's do with 12" comes down. I'm sure nobody owns plows or snow shovels??? And then there's driving in it...lol. DFW will reopen in the spring!!!!

When I was In Artesia, NM we had more snow than Upstate NY.

Funny thing was being on a 3 billion dollar government facility and what they do when they got 1/2 of snow. The largest grader I have ever seen plowing the Compound!!!!! Oh yeah workers shoveling all the side walks.

Shooting our HK .40 when it was snowing was fun too!!!!

Here is a picture from yesterday (nearly worn out extreme performance summer tires, Dunlop Star Specs, rock in the snow):

And a couple from my back yard this morning:

I drove in it yesterday, but have not decided if I will leave the house or not today.

At least it wasn't 30"...

We got 2' on Wednesday.

Thank the lord (or Nokian?) for winter/snow tires (especially on our rides! wink.gif )!!

All I have to say is:

I hate snow. That stone retaining wall is about 6' high at its closest point in the picture.

Looks like a Corona ad, just change the beer...

We got hit with aproximately 30 centimeters (almost 12inchs for US folks) of pure powder. This is really going to sux when it warms and this stuff gets wet and heavy. Sofar we have received a meter of snow, the norm would be a max of 5 cm for winter. This is completely unheard ofin this area to received this much snow. Looks like this stuff will be around for at least a week . Temps are projected to be in the negative degrees for the next week. But we do get one day of sunshine with a projected temp of -11 for next Friday.

Texas isn't the only place that may struggle with this stuff. It's a tradition in Virginia to make a run to the super market for bread/milk/toilet paper. We've had a lot more than normal around here, including an inch this morning. Up to seven more expected Monday. On top of the three snows we received earlier in the month. We see an ungodly number of wrecks for the first day or so, then people settle down and remember how to drive in this crap. My youngest son works for the DOD at Aberdeen, (MD), and has between three and four feet of the stuff on the ground. I can't wait for spring.

A few years ago I went to a couple of schools at Aberedeen and Edgewood mid January. All I can say is shelter you car from the bay. The bay side of my rental must of had 6inches of ice on it. That was a cold one with that wind blowing off the bay.
GlennCMC70
yep, this snow event has broken a single day and a winter season total that dates back to the 60's. its the 2nd largest single event on record.
NJSPEEDER
We haven't gotten dumped on here is central Jersey, but we are seeing regular snow. Last week we got a few inches, Wednesday we got 18ish, and they are predicting another 1-2 tomorrow and some more Tuesday.

My Camaro looks so sad sitting there covered in more than a foot of snow, but I am glad I have my Jeep to get around in.

Life long northern CA native, living on the valley floor where we only see snow once a decade or so ... but an hour and a half drive from Tahoe so used to driving in heavy snow with 20 feet or more of the stuff piled on the side of the road ...

My wife and I chased a job to MN a few years back ... "heavy" snow one night left a foot or so on the ground. Next morning we're the only ones to show up at work ... everyone else called in saying they couldn't drive in these conditions ... I think they're still joking about it: "we had this heavy snowstorm and the next day the crazy Californians were the only ones to make it in!"

Used to be stationed in WA state, and had a 1990 SS454 pickup with a 4/6 drop. Got snow one year, and all the people freaked out. Drove slow that morning, watching all the 4WD, Jeeps, and VW buggies fly by...sure enough, they were the first ones in the ditch. Passed them by, and then got passed by a 3rd gen TA. The road went over a hill with a bridge at the top, and it had iced over with fresh snow. TA looped it when he hit the bridge (something about posi's and ice...). Never had an issue with the truck the whole trip. It ain't the weather, it's the nut behind the wheel...

It's the sharing the road with nuts is the scarey part.

Well yeah. Global warming and climate change means more extreme weather all over the earth. Hotter summers, colder winters, less predictability.
Climate = the way a place is generally is (like Mexico is usually hot and dry, Antarctica is frozen and dry)
Weather = what's happening in the sky from day to day, like it's raining or sunny (or snowing an unusual amount)

This is the first time in 20 years I've seen any signifigant accumulation actually on the Beach. First of Feb we had 8" on top of the sand, and there were still crazy idiots out there surfing!

They seem to be a vast improvement over the sane idiots that I always meet. 2thumbs.gif

I have to find the box. It's buried in the garage (on or under the car project). I'll try to find them tonight. I need to just start a thread for who need what and place an order soon. I'm about out.

Or to put it another way, global warming is the shift in the average temperature.

Basically if it's not 70*, low humidity, and sunny you can blame it on global warming.

You mean to tell me that only a foot kept those crazy yoopers <(I've heard this term used to include MN residents as well as U.P./Wisconsin natives) off of the roads??!!
(They practically come out of the womb as ice racers/winter rally drivers wink.gif )

That's how it seemed ... of course there could have been an "excuse for a snow day" motivation going on that we didn't have figured out yet ... ;-)

I might have 6" here in southwestern NH. At this point in the year it's the least amount of snow I've had on the ground since I've lived here, and the fewest plows I've had to pay for. Strange year indeed, but it ain't over yet.
