So I've got my NASA even this weekend at VIR. Really excited to drive this car for the first time. I'll be sure to get you guys some pics.
Any last minute tips? It's a 2000 trans am WS6.

Kyle,
Stop by the CMC/AI paddock area. We are located at the far end towards tun 17 and at the end of the track suites. If this is your first time at VIR, there is a lot to remember about the track. Pick a couple of key sections and master those.
Here is a video from the March CMC race....http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3518227511883126694&hl=en
Packed and ready to head out to VIR....

Try to get an instructor familiar with either F-bodies or heavy cars with horsepower. Your past experience should let you know to adjust your brake points on track since you are changing platforms.
Set the parking brake during tech. That should eliminate the c-clip noise that occurs when laterally moving the car. DON'T set the parking brake after your sessions when you return to your pit stall.
I set the heater temp to full hot and have the fan on low or medium during my sessions, then place the fan on high during the cooldown lap. YMMV; this is summer. May not need to do that in fall/winter.

Tho I've never driven VIR, I hope to some day. The uphill esses have a spot that will bite an unwary driver, I recommend watching and understanding the difference in the lines these guys are taking there:

Yeah I've got a good amount of seat time at VIR just not in something like this Trans am. This being my first NASA event I'm excited about meeting a whole new group of people.

Kyle,
So how was VIR? Did the bird do ok? I'm ready to take mine in the fall and let her strech her wings a little. Doing AutoX with her is somewhat limiting. Any Pics?

Guys.. what a blast!! NASA runs a very smooth event and everyone was very nice. The car did better than I thought it would. She ran VERY hot the first day so I could only putt around and mind the temps. I tracked it down to a bad thermostat and replaced it Sat night. Sun she held at a solid 210* no matter how hard I pushed her. So I got many hot laps in. It only rained once and it was during my session so I got a nice ride on the grass on the inside of turn 2, not used to all this power yet and it's funny how the car goes faster once you hit wet grass.
I found an '07 Mustang GT that was the same speed and had a blast chasing him around the track. But it's really cool to be able to chase down Porsches on the straights. It does lean...alot, and you really have to pay attention to your braking zones ( and rotors, I cracked a set ) but after a few suspension and brake upgrades this car is really going to rock and roll. Thanks everyone for the hints and tips.
Mills we're going to have to make a trip out there together. No I didn't get any pics this time, I was all alone b/c my "crew" bailed on me.

I can't wait to run the full track, I'm in. I've got my car F-Stock Prepared (sans rear Koni's) and it made a big difference from the stock stuff. The guys on this site def know what they are talking about!

Oh man....my favorite track! I went there for 2 days back in Sept 2006! I'd love to go again....but the long trip and fuel prices are holding me back! Here's the esses and the oak tree corner.
