I really want to bring up the picture he posted with TWO rear shocks on one side and a leaf spring....

but hey...I tried to stay on topic.

I want to know if they thought Junior was screwed on Setup. But that's just me.

I might as well bring up my favorite post from this guy.

Here is the thread: http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/index.php?sho...p;hl=streetable

The thread is about buying a C6R Corvette.

QUOTE (V6RSR @ Dec 2 2007, 12:20 AM) *
$650k and not streetable? no thanks. Mine is about 1/10th the price and wil give both of those a very decent run for their money with a SBC 327ci outting down 540rwhp and an 8500 redline. And I can acutually still drive on the street.

Hmmm Harley or dinette set? Harley or dinette set? I went with the dinette set.

I wondered what brought all the frrax'ers over there.

I still say my point about the weight is valid. I however am not going to say a V6 will be faster around a race track. I think Dean's ego is writing checks he can't cash on that one. I think my point got lost in all the mess though. Although it sure would be interesting to see a V6 car run, if it could get the right power/weight ratio. I'm sure as heck wouldn't use my money for it, but I would sure like to watch it.

I will say, though, that Dean was tons of help to me, in helping me figure out a couple of small issues with some little things on my front suspension, for all his ego driven jack-arsery on TGO, he was spot on with all the advice he gave me for my car.

HAHahahhaa...I should have. The thread is going downhill fast...too much ego, too little time. I don't visit TGO much, so thankfully that guy is gone from here (and nowhere near cc.com also!).

Like I stated on that Corvette furm post, I was already rolling 60-70 mph when I clutched the car and lit the asz end up on the track at Irwindale in from of the prerace fans. Not a little tire scratch, I lit them sideways. THis car does that no problem on scary street rubber. I can not use the power for the slower speed stuff.

I had to jump in there too, but actually calc'd some numbers.

QUOTE
On the higher speed sections of the course, aero starts to become a significant factor. If you've only got 150 hp at the rear wheels, at 100 mph, you only have 99hp left over to accelerate the car (3200 lb / 99 hp = 32lb/hp), while the stock V8 with 250 hp has 200 hp on tap (3400/200=17 lb/hp), so it'll have almost twice the acceleration as the lighter, lower hp V6.

I'm bored so I'm "in". I simply presented another way to spend $25k on a 3rd gen (and maybe someone will decide to buy my car smile.gif ).

Andris,
That spreadsheet of yours is intriguing. I’ve been thinking about making one myself for some time now but just haven’t put aside the time to do it. I have a theory about polar moment of inertia vs F/R weight distribution that I would like to try out.

Here is a thread on the very subject: http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/index.php?sho...+put+the+weight

Some people say to put all the ballast in the RR corner to improve weight distribution. Some say to put the weight towards the center of the car to reduce the polar moment of inertia.

My theory is that the best place to put the weight is track dependent. For autocross with tight turns there is a greater amount of force on the tires just to rotate the car (180 deg turn in 2 sec, for example). On a road course the turns are longer so the force to rotate the car is less (180 deg turn in 4 sec, for example).

Add to all this another thing that I want to put on paper/computer. 300 lbs of unsprung in the rear and 1170 lbs of sprung weight make a unsprung/sprung ratio of 26%. The front for example would be 150/1950 = 8%. What does this mean? The front unsprung weight will be controlled better than the rear. That means that moving weight to the rear will have another benefit beyond just the steady state tire model prediction. I'd like (again when I get time) set up the model and make a few plots of the force between the tire and the road vs time. Multiplying that by a tire friction curve will result in a plot of dynamic grip vs time. Taking the standard deviation of the population of points that make up that plot would give you a single number that can be used to express the dynamic performance of a given configuration.

There are other set-up related configurations that could be ran through such a model. Many of the results would be intuitive (less unsprung weight means a more consistent force between tire and road, for example) but I think the greatest benefit would be that it allows us to make some comparisons of different set-ups and the relative magnitude of a certain change. We could incorporate details that are in JonA's spreadsheet, aero, etc.

Some things that it could evaluate (expanding upon what you already have):
-weight distibution and sprung vs unsprung
-Big bar soft spring vs small bar big spring (adding (road) dynamic analysis to JonA's spreadsheet)
-3rd shock? (just for fun)
-ballast location
-etc

I realize that I am greatly over simplifying things but even simple models can be used to make relative comparisons.

Did I loose you?

You people are so jealous of me for some reason it pathetic.

I came accross a post about me he by accident searching something on the internet- to see StanIroc whaatever the dffuck your name is crying and whining about me.

Then I search my name on here and have to laugh at the two faced jealousy I see around this so called "pofessional racers" board

Every one of you here have learned valuable 3rd gen chassis setup tips from me over the years and have lost debate afeter debate when you thought you knew enough to challange me and embarass yourrselves- with that I laugh.

Case in point? search my name, read the TGO links and then read the comments on here about me- then link the dates of eact post. Funny how when the truth comes out you al shut your vagina's when facts come out - especially by others confirming me beating them. Put your dicks in your mouth often? Such a shame. I talk to you all in another 5 years when you are still clueless and learning from me. ps- Yes I have not had a 3rd gen for about 6 years now, but I wrench on a half dozen of them for friends monthly for various events- that is why I am still involved with them- because I actually help people...including every one of youat some time in your life leading up to this.

I was a little surprised to see this thread pop up. I was thinking he had been banned years ago, but I guess he just got mad and left. Oh well...problem solved. He can take his confidence problem elsewhere. rotf.gif rotf.gif rotf.gif rotf.gif rotf.gif

You could have at least let us play cat and mouse with him for a little while longer before you put him completly out... buttkick.gif hitwithrock.gif twak.gif

But in the end you are probably right in doing so, arguing with him is like wrestling a pig... after a while you realize the pig likes it!
Racerdad916
fail.

wait, that would be EPIC FAIL.
trackbird
I think that's only the second person I've banned from here in 10 years. Actually, the last one banned himself. I forgot about that. smile.gif

The last one was trying to spam his way to 35 posts to start selling CMC cars in the classifieds (which he has a "million" page thread on another forum doing the same thing). So we created a member group that automatically moves you to banned status at 35 posts and kept setting him up to answer things so he'd post.

POOF!

Now I have to find that thread too...

EDIT: If you go to the search function, enter his screen name and search for posts by user...it makes for an interesting read.

I would love to roll up behind this guy in my 3800lb V8 powered BARGE and toot the horn as I passed him.

just reading his post pissed me off how the hell did you guys put up with him for so long?

The better question is how he's not perma-banned from TGO. I think he was so OCD about signing back up under new names that the mods got tired of banning him.

With a personality like that, it's a real head scratcher on why he's divorced...

Haha. It's been so long since I logged in over at TGO that I have an angry PM from Dean telling me he's going to pay me a visit at the last address he could find for me. Hope he didn't buy a plane ticket out to be disappointed that I don't live there anymore. wink.gif

I forgot all about this thread. Man, there's been some interesting stuff here over the years.

Looks like this guy is back at it, on facebook this time telling people not to spray their hot tires.

Nope. That's okay, I don't do face palm, anyway, and am reminded almost daily that that wasn't a bad idea. 2thumbs.gif

Lol, what facebook page is it? Or has it been deleted already?
slowTA
It is a picture of the NJ Pro runner up getting his tires sprayed down between rounds. Dean jumped in there and said that wasn't a good idea and listed a reason or 2 why, then said something about how we're a bunch of monkey-see monkey-do people which set off all the really fast drivers who spray their tires.

He then got pissy when everyone said what their results were and started dropping names from the '80s who he was the crew chief for, said his goal in life was to get under people's skin, cursed us all out for not being nice for his free advice, then deleted all of his posts.

A real classy guy.
trackbird
Wow. lol.

When Racerdad916 and I were autocrossing the teal terror on Sumitomo summer tires....they'd get greasy. The hotter they got, the more greasy they got. We finally started spraying them down with a bug sprayer full of room temp (shade temp?) water. They were always dry by the time we got to the line again and they seemed much less greasy once we cooled them down a bit. And that car was far faster than it should have been (on junk tires, driven by at least one "hack" (me) lol).
