I've seen the LS1 rears on a 3rd gen. I haven't looked into it, but I know it can be done. I think the info is on TGO (thirdgen.org), but I won't swear to it. GC355 here on frrax has done it on his car (I've seen it in person).

I know a guy that put LS1 rear disks on his third gen convertible. Apparently with no modifications. The LT1 rear brakes are pretty much the same as the stock rear disks that came on third gens, the only difference is the bracket that mounts them. The LT1 bracket with set the caliper about 2 tenths of an inch too far out board. The brackets ether need machined to move the caliper in or you need third gen brackets.
