Good question. You used to able to buy authentic o.e.m. delphi units from "thepartsladi" on ebay for $280, but it seems they went out of business some months ago. I would say just shop around, but don't fall for the $100 generic knockoffs or you'll be sorry. With thepartsladi gone, you'll probably have to pay over $400 for an ac delco/delphi opti. Scroll down and select the "Browse the parts catalog" link. Also, watch out on the shipping - they have good prices but seem to make their margin more on shipping than parts. |

This subject comes up a LOT with the GM B-body crowd. Not sure of the current status, but some guy who works in the parts department for Hamilton Chevrolet is/was working on a group purchase:
http://www.impalassforum.com/vBulletin/sho...ad.php?t=249877 You may have to register and log in to see it, but there's a lot of good info on that site re: the LT1. There's a couple of other people on the list who are selling them, too. There's a guy who sells the optical unit (what usually seems to crap out) that's I believe a Delphi unit, and a guy with the name 'TheWolf' who has a line on good US-made complete Opti units for a good price. I'm running one in my wife's 95 9C1 Caprice for about 4 months now with no issues (I know that's not long, but that's how long I've had it in). Look around there, and you can find a LOT of info about Optis and their care and feeding. Good luck! |
