ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
A Corvette owner said he was almost carjacked at gun point, but the would-be thieves ran away, because they couldn't figure out how to drive his car.

It was just after 11 o'clock at night, when Randolph Bean was waiting for his wife to get out of work. That's when two men took him by surprise while he was inside his bright, yellow Corvette. It was parked outside Orlando Regional Medical Center in Downtown Orlando.

He said the two came from behind. "So, barely caught them in the mirror."

According to the police report, one of the men had a gun. "He started yanking on the door and made me open the door. He kind of flung it open and dragged me out and demanded that I get on the ground... face down, so I couldn't look at him of course."

Randolph, 51, said one of the thieves pointed a gun at him while asking how to use the car. "They apparently couldn't start it. I had to tell him four different times to push in the clutch, because it's a standard transmission."

Reports state, the suspects finally gave up and ran away, leaving Randolph on the ground. Police tried searching for the men, but they took off, "My first thought was I guess we don't have driver's ed. in school anymore because no one knows how to drive a stick. And my second thing was, don't shoot me because you can't start the car. I'm trying to help you out here. You know. Thankfully they didn't."

Randolph tried lifting finger prints off the car in fact you can still see powder on the side of the door. Randolph took us for a ride in his 2002 Corvette, "The basics of driving a standard transmission aren't difficult at all. This is a high performance car compared to other cars, so if they had gotten it, they might have hurt themselves in it."

Even though they left his cool Corvette, "They got away with my phone, they got my keys, they got my wallet." Randolph has a message for the hot rods who tried taking his fast ride, "Guys turn your life around. You guys have got a lot going for you. Thank you for not taking my life for something silly as a car."

Randolph says he has more information to give to police, but officers haven't yet returned his calls.

I want to add another set of aftermarket driving lights on the front of my 2001 2500HD Silverado, and add a set of fog lights in the rear, perhaps on a bracket that is attached to the receiver. My stock alternator is 105 amps. Can I swap in a 130 amp alternator with no other electrical system changes? The main reason for the extra lights up front is to increase visibility on trails/dirt roads when I'm returning from hunting areas after sunset.

TIA

SANTAQUIN, Utah – A Utah man who won a $380,000 Lamborghini in a convenience store chain's contest crashed the sports car six hours after he got it.
The lime green Murcielago Roadster was set to leave for a Las Vegas body shop Wednesday for repairs, just days after Santaquin resident David Dopp won it in Maverik stores' "Joe Schmo to Lambo" contest.
"Yeah, I got it on Saturday and I wrecked it on Saturday," Dopp told KSL-TV.
He said he was taking friends and family on joy rides that evening on the outskirts of town. He said he took a curve at 40 or 50 mph when the vehicle hit ice or loose gravel and started spinning.
The car crashed through some fence posts before coming to rest in a field.
Dopp wasn't injured, but his wife said she was shocked.
"My heart pretty much fell out," Annette Dopp told KSL. "They said they were OK. Then (came), you know, that feeling when your heart drops and you're like, 'Oh, my gosh. What do we do now?'"
The 640-horsepower Lamborghini has front-end damage, a punctured wheel and scratches along the passenger side. The vehicle is insured.
David Dopp was videotaped last month jumping up and down and hollering in speechless disbelief when contest officials announced during a college football game that he won the car.
The giveaway, which awarded participants for using a rewards card at Maverik stores, was co-sponsored by nonprofit organization "teamgive," which raises awareness about rare neurological diseases.
David Dopp said it was strange seeing the flashy, exotic car in his humble driveway. He told ABC 4 in Salt Lake City that he plans to sell the vehicle to pay off bills and buy his wife another car — as soon as the Lamborghini's drivable again.
"It's going to be all nice and pretty here in a couple of months, I'm sure," David Dopp said.

My stepdaughter's 2000 Jeep GC needs front brakes; the pedal shudders when the brakes are applied, which to me means warped rotors. She took it to a local shop who confirmed the warped rotors, and told her that in addition to replacing the rotors and pads, that the calipers also needed to be replaced. I find that odd (at the very least). Has anyone else done a brake job on one of these vehicles?

TIA
