So, looking at mylaps.com it seems that the last AI SoCal race at Buttonwillow November 7 & 8 had a grand total of two American Iron cars, John and Ross Murray. Am I tallying that correctly? And it looks like Ryan Walton was out in HPDE 4 a couple of times, once with a lap ~15 seconds off pace, and the other time with no lap time, so I'm guessing he was having issues. I've also heard that there was mayhem on the track. So, what's the story?

I don't recall what kind of air intake this is, but I'm pretty sure it requires the hood with nostrils. It's been sitting in the garage for a few years. If it's something you can use, make an offer. I will probably clean it and oil the filter element prior to shipping, but that's not guaranteed. But I probably will since I hate sending people dirty things.

We've upgraded the brakes on our '96 Camaro, and are selling the Baer Claw brake kit that we've had on the car for the last ~5 years. The kit is as pictured in this link:
http://www.z28racergirl.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=5582 Shipping the stuff will be expensive, mainly due to the weight of the rotors. If you have the stock brakes on an LT1 car you'll need to cut the spindle to make these fit, which isn't all that hard really. For an LS1 car this should bolt right on. The tack welded spacers for the caliper brackets broke off the bracket some time ago on one bracket. This is more a pain in the ass than anything else. That same bracket (coincidence?) is ever so slightly twisted. We have five sets of pads that fit the calipers. I'll throw in two sets with the kit. The other three sets I'd like to get some money for, but if you buy the kit I'll sell them at a reduced price. Oh yeah, you'll want to have the calipers rebuilt as the dust boots are torn. I don't even know what to charge for this. I don't recall what this was new. Heck, I should recall what overnight Saturday Fedex to Buttonwillow cost for a caliper holder, since it was insanely expensive, but I've learned to block that stuff from memory. $100? Make me an offer. Jason

A little background. My wife was driving at NASA Nationals at Mid-Ohio in September '07, and in the main race her panhard bar mount broke, she spun, and was hit in the driver rear quarter panel. We took it to the body shop on January 14th, and told them it was no hurry.
So, good news. The car is apparently ready for paint. I'll take and post some pictures after we go check it out this afternoon. The body work guy said we should discuss how fancy we want to paint it. Fancy? Um, not. I put this in GD - I notice we don't have a broke up car specific forum. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Jason

My wife's '96 LT1 Camaro helped decelerate a Mustang at Mid Ohio with her left rear quarter panel. In the process the rear bumper cover and the body piece that the tail lights sit in were damaged. I'm looking to buy those parts. I'm also interested in a front bumper cover, but that is secondary to the rear parts, as the front is currently functional and would only be replaced for aesthetic reasons. I'd love to find the parts in black in SoCal, but beggars can't be choosers. If anyone has these or a lead on these I'm interested. Time is not of the essence, since we need to do a couple of minor repairs before getting back on track anyhow.
Thanks. Jason |
