OK guys, I'm starting to gather the needed parts to build my 8.8 rearend as my winter project.
I've got a 10bolt housing that will donate it's axle tubes and the stock torque arm that I will use to fab my jig up. What I need now is a semi-complete 10 bolt to use as a model for the jig, and an 8.8 donor housing. I need a straight, semi-complete, 10 bolt housing to have a pinion gear and yoke on it, as well as the caliper mounting brackets. I don't need it to have axles, diff, ring gear, brakes, cover, or anything else (ie, blown up is fine). I'm going to use this to fab the jig I will use to when fabbing the hybrid rear. I'm going bolt the jig to the DS yoke and the caliper brackets, then weld everything solid and remove the 10 bolt from the jig (I'm even going to get rid of it once I am done with it, except the caliper brackets will be permanently welded to the jig) For the 8.8, I just need a straight housing. No guts at all, no axles, no brakes, no nothing. Donor car is not important - truck, suv, t-bird, granada, lincoln, or mustang is fine. If anyone knows of anyone who has a junk one of these, please let me know. Obviously, because all I need is the basic stuff, I am looking to get these very very cheaply. Other misc. stuff I will be looking for to complete the project, you guys could just keep in mind if you have a friend who might have some of the stuff: 1. 31 spline Detroit Truetrac diff to fit a 8.8 rear. 2. 4.10 gears to fit 8.8 rear 3. Stud girdle/cover to fit 8.8 rear 4. HD torque arm - haven't decide whose I want to use yet. The car will be a dual purpose AX/DR car, so I will be looking for a piece that can do double duty. 5. Trans Blanket - looking to launch at the strip off the rev limiter with the new rear, so I don't want clutch parts in my legs. BTW, willing to pay market prices for the above list, needed in very good shape if used at all. Please let me know if you know anyone who has this stuff and is looking to get rid of it ! TIA ! Tim

Looking for recommendations on the best place to buy a harness. I'm definitely going to buy an SFI approved harness, just looking for the retailer/wholesaler who will give the biggest discount. I am not stuck on a particular brand however, as long as it is SFI approved.
Thanks in advance for the help ! Tim |
