Jim McIlvane is in desperate need of a Richmond 6 speed, 26 spline ASAP. The trans is in a 81 Camaro.

Jim is a photographer and writer for magazines like GM High Tech Performance. Last year, he helped get a road race issue of GMHTP that featured Sam Strano and Glenn Landrum.

Anyone have something like this?

John - let me know what the times were for you and any other similar cars. I ran 1:19s there in April. I'm interested to know what others run, outside of the normal guys that show up.FYI - if you're on race tires, don't lift going into 1. You can take it going flat out (about 140ish). It's hairy, but you'll make it through with at least 2 tires on.I'm out of town, else I'd stop by and see you.

Mitch don't worry it was a BAD DAY!!!!! I never seen so much standing water, on track the car had hugh 6-8ft sprays of water going through the big puddles. I think the first place car had 2.13 in the WET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didnt drive there and the owner finished 62 and 64 That hurt point wise big time.

Matt as for not lifting I wish I would of known that (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/puke.gif) . I think I went through there at 120ish but just like any thing try doing that with never being on the track before.... I had clutch issues on the first run and the second run was okay but if I had a better run first with having to worry about things I could of been a bit faster. I wont have the video for a bit to see what my lap times our.

Well, if it was a wet track, then all bets are off. Last time there was a rain storm during a race, an ITC 240SX was the 1st overall car. He beat all the Vipers, Vettes, Panoz GTSs, etc.

From what I hear, its's not the easiest track to learn. Actually, I've heard that it's downright technical in nature. Plus, it's my home track, so I know pretty much every bump and curb by heart.

FYI - when the Viper Racing League was here, a guy clicked off a 1:14.9, and ran 1:15s during the race. I watched them as they went through Turn 1, and I swear they were doing 150 through there.

Matt the top car ran 3 laps with a standing start of a 3:55. I ran a 3 lap combined of a 4:21. If I do the simple math with the standing start I did the laps in the 1:27 range. I normally loose 6-8 seconds on a standing start. So nock off aprox 2 sec a lap. 1:25 ish.
Yes it seemed like a more tech track. I had issues with getting the corner with the big concreate patch. Walking the track helped to a point if you remember where you need to be.

I think you're talking about Turn 5. That's one of the more important turns. When I hit the apex of that turn, I'm just at the bottom of 3rd gear, and I floor it right at the apex. 4th comes halfway between 7 and 8.

I used to be in 2nd coming around 4 and 5, then shifting to 3rd right at Turn 7. I'd hit the limiter before Turn 8, and be shifting in the middle of the turn. I found that, by never going to 2nd, and leaving it in 3rd, I actually was carrying more speed down the straight.

Dang - I really wish I'd have been able to come out there and help you with the course. Or the car. Or help with pretty much anything. I think I'll make sure to not schedule anything a few months in advance next time.

Matt its no big deal to me. I had fun. Yes I would say turn six is the one I had issues with. But a little here and a little there all add up. Just trying to carry to much speed. I think there is something going on with the tune with the car. Car just doesnt seem to run big mph number that I was expecting. car only ran 108.8 at the drag strip. I could botch the launch the car still should run mph. I need to get my head screwed on straight and give the owner some feedback about some issues that need to be looked at.
