I'm looking at a car (non F-Body) at a dealer in Marietta, GA and was wondering it someone in the area could take a look at it and give me their impressions?
Thanks, Bill

Not for much longer.
GM High-Tech Performance is dead, or will be after the Aug issue. I used to subscribe to the print version, but dropped that a few years ago. I would pick up one off the news stand when I saw something I liked, but last year I re-uped for the digital version. I liked that they covered cars without carbs and didn't just focus on strait line cars, but there articles were always thin, just covering the surface and missing a lot of the cool details. The also spent so much focus on the pretty cars and not covering much in the cool and fast cars that didn't have flawless paint. There are a load of subject I wish they had covered, but that would have required deep articles on things like how they actually tuned the ecu for the latest engine they built for a project car. Another member of the print media falls. They weren't the first and I'm sure they won't be the last.

Any one want a set of stock 16x8 '92 Camaro wheels. I started to refinish them but didn't complete the project.
$200 or obo. Pickup in Dublin Ohio.

I have a set of Ronal R15s that I will let go for $700. Summer driven only and have only had two sets of tires every mounted to them.
These are the same design as the '92 Firehawk. Mine have the dark gray accents. Located in Dublin Ohio.

I've just started playing with a new technology and I wanted to share and get some thoughts and ideas.
I hooked a Kinect sensor to a PC and started 3D scanning objects, namely my Camaro. I'm thinking that this could be useful when it comes to further modifying the car. I've been wanting to flair the fenders and if I can get a good model of the fender I could then model a flare to it and then 3D print the flair and then just flip the model and print it again for the other side, and do it as many time as I want. Scanning parts could also lead to engineering better replacements parts in CAD software in the future. Anything from front 3rd gen spindles to a IRS for 3rd and 4th gens. I've seen articles about using 3D printing to create molds for casting parts or of course models for CNC machines. This is one of my first test scans that I did of the engine bay. (IMG:http://www.incom-racing.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/engine-test.jpg) I need to work on the software's settings and I used a i3 laptop to do the processing. I think things would go smoother with more horsepower in the PC. The software uses the graphics chip to do some of the heavy lifting. I looking at getting a 3d printer this summer, though it won't be big enough to print a fender, but it is a start. I would love to build a 40" Reprap printer. Keep in mind, I'm an IT guy, not a mechanical engineer. |
