I'm posting this on behalf of the Atlanta Region Solo Chair. We have a person that is doing their best to cause us to lose one of our best sites. We need the help of anyone that has attended an event in Atlanta to sign this petition.

As most of you are aware, there has been some complaints to the The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners about the events held at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds. Though no actions have been taken at this point, it is my opinion that it is in the best interest of our sport that we begin collecting data to support our cause as soon as possible. With this in mind I have created two petitions, one for Gwinnett County residents and one for non-residents. The residents petition is designed to show support for our events in the county. The non-residents petition is to show how much money is brought into Gwinnett county by non-residents for these events. The non-resident petition needs to be signed by individuals who have actually participated in Gwinnett County Fairgrounds Events (including SCCA National Tours, ProSolos, Divisionals, Points Events, DoubleCross, Schools, TnTs, BMW Club Events, Porsche Club Events, etc). The Resident petition may be supported by any resident of Gwinnett County, Georgia.

Also, I'm a Government Relations Liaison by day. A very effective method to this is to write a local county elected official (county council, or whatever you call it there). Try to set up a face-to-face meeting, If that won't work, go to a meeting and sit in the gallery. Either before the meeting or afterwards, walk up and introduce yourself to a member of the council. Explain your problem briefly and ask if you can arrange to speak more in depth about it in their office.

Also, do some homework. Find out how many people have attended events that live withint he area (not just the petition signers). Tell that elected official that, "(X many) hundreds of your consituents attend these events. We are a very loyal bunch of people. If this happens, we will ensure that not one member votes for any incumbent in the next elections." Also bring up the point that, whiole you have hundreds interested in your events, only a few dozen (at most) can legitimately claim inconvenience because of noise or whatnot.

WE actually have two petitions, one for local residents and one for out of county residents. We're trying to show how much money out of town people bring to the local businesses when they attend events.

The county has already done a sound study to determine how much noise we make. Basically, not enough to worry about. But the guy seesm to think he can threaten us with a law suit to get us to stop. We're already running a 96 @ 50 feet sound limit and considering dropping that even more.
