I'm getting to the point of my build that I need to start thinking about fluids.
Saginaw power steering fluid
700R4 trans fluid
I'd like to hear opinions? 91 Firebird that will mostly see street driving with the occasional AutoX and road course events.

Redline PS fluid.

For transmission, you can run synthetic, but you can run standard quality fluid and a big cooler. Just make sure you keep the temps low enough that you don't scorch the fluid. If you run an external cooler, run through the radiator cooler and then through the external. That will help keep the fluid warm on cool days and on hot days it will cool in the radiator and cool more in the external cooler.

Redline
Redline make something that specifically for a Saginaw power steering pump or assuming it's safe to use a full synthetic?

I am running an external cooler that is plumbed through the radiator while also running a temp gauge to monitor trans fluid temp
So any off the shelf name brand Dexron 6 will be sufficient?

I've run lots of redline PS fluid and I've never had an issue. That's actually what's in my car right now.

If you can keep the temps down, regular Dexron (non synthetic) is likely fine. If you're seeing super high temps, you may want to change it. However, those same high temps will cook the seals in the transmission. The message here is really that you don't want to see high transmission temps. If it's not cooling, put a larger cooler on it or add a fan.
