For CAM-C, I’d like to get tires for my 95 Z28 to go on a set of C5 Z06 18x10.5s. I’m leaning toward the 275 35 18 RE71s. I know there are wider options in other brands, but are they faster on this size rim? Car is a 95 Z28. I also have 4 17x11s if there is a better option for those.

I have 18x11. My only experience is with 315 Rival S and RE71R. I think the RE71R are faster. I am running 285/30R18. These have been working great for me. These will not have clearance concerns either. If you run tighter venues I think these are ideal.

I would really like to try 315 Rival S 1.5 or even more want to try 315 Advan 052.

So, personally I would try one of the 315 newer tires (likely the Advans)... if you chose the safe route I would recommend the 285 RE71R. I know they are short, but they work well.

I'm running the 315 Rivals on C5Z rears all around. I hammered on the inner fenders a bit, but it was easy and I've not had any rubbing at all.

General consensus from the Vette CAMS crowd is that a 315 Rival S is faster than the smaller RE71. Too bad they don’t make the RE71 that big.

I’ve done some back to back testing if the RE71 to the A052 but only road course. A052 took quite a bit of work to get heat into. And it wasn’t good until the heat was there. I can’t imagine it’d work well in an autocross environment.

I ruled out the A052s because they are illegal in CAM (on the tire exclusion list).

I have Rival-S 315s and really like them a lot. It seems like almost as much grip as Hoosiers. The first run is always loose until you get heat in them, then they feel really sticky to your hand/finger like an R comp.

Rival S 1.5 finally available in a 315? Sweet. I'd love to try the RE71R, but I'm just not happy with the size compromises for my intended use.

Several endurance teams (limited to 180 or 200tw as well) have reported really good success with the new Nankang tire. The widest 18 at the moment is a 295 but I've tested a 285 and it is very wide for the size. I've not seen a 295 and PhilsTireService does not show measured specs. Like a rival, once warm it is quite sticky and it has a sidewall package that results in a good precise feeling (lots of 200tw tires are more "vague"). Not sure if any autocrossers have tested it yet, but it might be worth considering.

Adding a cost datapoint as I just looked it up:

TireRack has the 315 Rival 1.5 at $378 a tire.

Phils has the 295 Nankangs at $255 a tire.

That's a big delta.
