I'm pretty sure that is a hollow bar. I had one of his early ones and I don't "think" Sam has ever sold a solid front bar...but I could be incorrect.

Are you certain hollow? Can you weigh it?
Also, is this a 3rd gen or a 4th gen bar? Costas cars and such... |

What’s the difference in stiffness and weight between that and a solid bar?

What’s the difference in stiffness and weight between that and a solid bar? Assuming a modulus of elasticity of 153000, my spreadsheet says: Suspension Techniques 35mm, solid Spring rate: 699 Stiffness factor: 1500625 Relative stiffness: 20.39 Relative weight: 306.25 Est. weight: 26 Strano 35mm hollow Spring rate: 493 Stiffness factor: 793342 Relative stiffness: 14.37 Relative weight: 174 Est. weight: 11 |

That’s pretty cool information. I’m not sure how to read it other than it’s not as stiff and 15 lbs lighter. I’m assuming the weight reduction is worth it.

All that weight falls right on the nose where the car is already heavy ........and, for at least autocross, Sam thought enough to test, design and start mass producing one - so I would say absolutely (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |
