As title says.
Looking for a new toy. Any choice would be in Manual Transmission only (don't want pdk/auto) Thinking:
Use: mainly track, a bit of street (not thinking on getting trailer) |

Caymans are also quite expensive to add power to... although 2017 Porsche and its all-turbo (notice I didn't say all-Turbo) lineup might make it cheaper and easier to get more ponies.

911 turbos are bloody expensive and only offer handicapped transmission.
There's the 911r... Also bloody expensive. For that price I rather get a mclaren 570s... But it's a auto 🤢 |

Z06 is still half price of a 911 turbo
I can always put more $ for more power on the z06. But would try to keep it under 1k hp since it's a track car |

That 2018 ZL1 1LE Track Package car looks interesting. I know a friend is very satisfied with his '15 1LE SS. While he keeps running the car, and updating parts, he's still peering over the hood at the new Gen cars. Unless it's stupid-expensive, I'll almost bet he ends up with one of these ('18 Track Package).

Don't get a McLaren. A guy in Texas has one and it breaks all the time. He has his own parking spot at multiple dealerships for his RV while he is waiting on them to fix it.

That wouldn't happen to be a McLaren that runs in the One Lap Of America? If it is, it broke again prior to the race and was not able to be fixed prior to the race. There fix was to purchase a New GTR 1 day before the event!!! Talking with the owners wife she stated the McLaren breaks every-time they take it out and it has the most repairs of any McLaren in the US totaling $90k!!!!!!!!!! |

The McLaren they bought to track and run the One Lap with that was actually _slower_ than their Honda that it was supposed to replace. They bought it to track, since they live really close to COTA. I think it has more 'laps' from COTA to the McLaren Dealership on a flatbed than on the racetrack itself!! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/nutkick.gif) I thought it funny that they thrashed on the McL to get it ready for this year's One Lap, only to have it break, into limp mode, when testing the latest repairs. They went to the Ni$$an dealership, located a bright red GTR, and drove it to the hotel for check-in for the event. They put the required stickers on the car in the parking lot of the hotel. Andy says it's obvious that the GTR weighs more, but the thing handles quite well. You can get on the power a lot earlier than you think you can coming off the corners. Others wax poetic about how 'magical' the diffs are when driving the car in anger. |

We started the wk in a Pontiac G8 and finished the week in a 800 mile 16 Chevy SS. |

Another one I'm considering in the list is a
Caterham 7 Type R Hayabusa... Or Caterham 7 CSR Either one would have powertrain modified for a bit more fun factor.

You might consider a BMW i135 or i235.
Small, 3200 lbs, 300+ hp and over 350 easily avalible. Shares alot on performance parts with the 3 series. |

Really depends on the ultimate goal. A toy you can 'make your own', or something stupid-fast off the show-room floor.

The 991.2 (newest) 911 gt3 is a monster track car that can still go get milk and you can get it with a stick, im a big vette fan but i think i would take a gt3 over a new Z.
but the "zr1" or what ever they want to call it should be here soon and i could only imagine that its goals are to keep up with a new Ford GT on the track so that might be worth waiting for. More street car oriented for the 100k market that are over looked Jaguar F type, but they have gone all wheel drive and i think zf auto only, so that sucks. Aston V8 Vantage, about as nice looking as they get specially with the GT package, not the fastest track car tho Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, pretty sweet looking car and can out run a M3, id love to see one in person This post has been edited by 00SSHarrison: Jun 3 2017, 05:29 AM |
