I had SL6's on my 2002 Z28 with C4HD 13" rotors. There are all kinds of kits out there if you dig. If you're looking to swap yours over to C5 rotors...you're not likely to have much luck. I'm guessing there is a specific kit on that car that's designed to fit that rotor. The C5 rotors crack after hard use in many cases. You're already running a better rotor, I'd stick with it.

How did this rotor last on track? Link to the kit? I was running a base C6 kit and moved to the Wilwood, not impressed with the Wilwood rotor ring life or the cost. I would like to put the SL6 caliper on a longer lasting rotor, ala C4-C5. Previously with the C6 kit and over the counter rotors I could get 16-24 sessions out of a set. I don't see that with the Wilwood rotor rings. I hurt a set pretty bad in 9 sessions with Raybestos ST47 pads. These were the 12.88 GT47 slotted rotor. C5 rotors would crack within 1-2 days, C6 rotors will last 5-7 weekends. Also, on the original picture, the car may have SL6s, but they aren't legal on a CMC car. Rules say has to be a 4-piston caliper on the front. |

I was running a C6 rotor, I like the way they last and the cost. Hence the reason I am trying to figure this out.
I have 17 inch OEM style wheels(3 sets) and don't plan on changing. Would love to use the SL6 caliper I already have on a heavier heat sink OEM style rotor. I blew that pic up and it looks like a FSli style caliper on the car, hard to tell though. Kevin, any info on the kit you used? |

I'd call up Wilwood's tech line and see if they can advise you. Even if the bracket isn't supposed to fit a C6 rotor, you can shim outward with hardened washers. I've been running the brackets on my 3rd gen like that for 8 years.
After typing that, I'd measure the Wilwood hat/ring setup you're running now vs. a C6 rotor (still have old ones?). If the offset is smaller on the Wilwood hat style, all you need is some hardened washers behind the caliper bracket and longer bolts. If you need something to measure with, you can buy a 6" digital caliper from Harbor Freight or other importers for <$20 with a coupon. It doesn't have to be perfect. I'd try to get it within .010", but OEM tolerance is probably higher. |

Wilwood's tech line is useless, they didn't even know that the rotor I have on the car now existed in their parts bin to fit this kit. They also told me to take the ducts off the car and "try it" after I clearly have a heat issue with the rings. I talked to 4 guys there, was e mailed by a guy that was supposed to know his stuff. Only to have more "seasoned" responses thrown at me. Wilwood is a "show car crowd" brake tech center...not for guys like us. Talking to those rocket scientists is a no go. Offset is MUCH bigger to the inside of the car on the Wilwood rotor hat over the C6, that's how they get that huge caliper behind a stock 17 inch wheel. No way I would space it that far back and trust the bolts with that much load. |

I could be mistaken...but can't you drill out the mounting holes on the F body upright and bolt on OEM C5 brackets and calipers using C5/C6 rotors? You would have to "stack" the brackets, in other words bolt the Wilwood radial bracket to the track bracket. The rub is this, on the Trackbracket simulates only the front of the C5 spindle for the abutment bracket to bolt onto to hold the pads and mount the caliper. The Wilwood radial bracket is designed to bolt to the inboard side of the spindle on the C5-C6 vette. Here is the Wilwood Bracket on a Vette.. Wish there was a way to use the C6 rotor with the SL6 calipers. Pad price and selection is great compared to the stock stuff, but damn are those rotor rings expensive. Not looking forward to replacing those soon (Thanks David for the info about the supplier with good prices). My other concern is that the Wilwood 2 piece rotors are very light. Just not a whole lot of material in those things, even compared to other 2 piece rotors. I'm no engineer, but they don't look like they would be good heat sinks.
