Hi, I'm a new member here. I saw a link on LS1Tech and decided to join. My car is mainly used as a nice weather only driver, but this summer I plan to try out a local auto-x track and hopefully make a trip to the drag strip as well.

I have a 2001 Firehawk formula hardtop, 6-speed with a few bolt on mods and the factory Bilstein level II suspension package. For performance mods it has Edelbrock stepped headers 1-3/4" to 1-7/8" with 3.5" collectors, 3" edelbrock ORY, hooker aerochamber cat back, SSRA, blackwing lid, and with a tune it made 351 RWHP and 365 ft-lbs.
In addition to the SLP suspension upgrades it has SLP 3pt SFC's, Spohn DSL, LPW rear differential cover, and I am currently installing a Midwest Chassis full length torque arm with the relocation transmission crossmember.
Future plans are new tires in the spring (thinking 275/40/17 NT05's at all corners), possibly adding rod/rod or poly/rod LCA's (stock ones are supposed to have the 1LE bushings so I might just keep them unless I start getting wheel hop), and trying to decide if a watts link will show a noticeable difference over a rod/rod panhard for my uses. Long term plans are AI ported heads and cam, possibly a supercharger way down the road, and of course upgrading any parts that wear out.

Anyways I hope to learn here, and feel free to leave any comments current setup and future plans.

Thanks!

When I looked up the numbers there were a total of 88 LS1 hardtop Hawks built, with around 50 of them being 6-speeds. It also has cloth interior, manual seats, and no traction control.

AWESOME ! I love ❤ stripper cars.

I'm currently running NT05's in 275 on all 4 corners and while I've liked there performance, the mileage / wear was less than I had hoped, but that is partially my fault as I started open road racing the car rather than tracking / autoX .... I think I'll be right around 4k miles this May and they will be GONE! Useful for 3k, but I was dreaming for 5k out of them (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

That's interesting to hear on the tires, but I'm sure they would have a longer life being only on the streets. Most people report getting 10-15k out of them.

Welcome!

Love the car --

Quick thought about rarity / quality of the ride - Auto X isn't too tough on paint (cone rash can usually buffed out), but should you go to the road course, be prepared to either tape up the whole front end or risk getting several little rock chips all over it.

Thanks! Everything I have done to the car are simple bolt-ons, so that I can return it to stock if I ever want/need to.

That was my thought with auto-x. A friend of mine went to BIR (Brainerd, MN) with his 'Hawk and got a ton of rock chips. It's unfortunate because it sounds like a ton of fun. If I ever have it repainted I will make sure to go before!
