Been a while since I posted here, although I still check in from time to time. Recently, I noticed that some of the instrument lights on my '02 Z-28 didn't work. The high beam indicator light was out as well, (explaining why all those folks flashed their high beams at me). It looks like the instrument cluster has to be removed from the dash, and the bulbs replaced from the back of the cluster once out. Have any of you guys made this repair? My local Chevy dealer didn't even have a part number for the bulbs. Any ideas? Thanks for any advice.

When I had my cluster out to do away with some of the lights (abs, traction control, etc.) they were led's and soldered on.
I don't remember if some were bulbs in addition to led's, or if all the lights were led's. I'll see if I still have my old v6 cluster laying around somewhere, leftover from the v6 to v8 swap... |

Thank you for the response. I watched a youtube video where a guy installed red instrument lights. It looked as if he used a pair of needle nose pliers to remove and re-install the bulbs by twisting and pulling.

I found my old cluster tonight. It has a bunch of bulbs accessible from the back. A black bar that twists out for each one. Then the bulb pulls out of the bar which is also the bulb socket.
The led's that I remembered were internal and required disassembling the cluster, but the bulbs are accessed from the outside of the cluster. |

Thanks for checking it for me. I'll take a shot at it this weekend. I really do appreciate it!
