Does anyone have less than $19K (including purchase price of car) into their cars?
I guess I'm saying these seem like a great buy and I'm sure extremely fast and safe.

That is a real race car, IMO most folks running HPDE are there to exercise their street car. Making the jump to a race car usually involves modifying their street car, or buying one to fit a particular class.

While there is a place for an ASA car (if it's a symmetrical chassis) in both SCCA and NASA, those classes are wide open money classes, so either no way to win, or no one to race with.

Consumables are on the high end of cost, and routine maintenance is more demanding than a racified street car.

Im sure there is double that price into that car. There are many good high dollar parts. In general race cars are needy (money and time) but i think buying something that is built to do what you want to do will put you ahead.

My instructor at Roebling a few years ago had a 87 Pontiac 2+2 Valvoline Neil Bonnet car. He put a GM ZZ4 crate motor in it, car was cool as cool gets. It just lumbered around the rack passing everyone lol.

Ya, I've been told they are $70K+ to build, of course after a few years they sell for under $20K.
Seems like a lot of the parts are interchangeable with the dirt track guys, and there are plenty of those around here.
