Hey All,
I wanted to extend an invitation to come out and run with the Southern California 3rd gen club at Adams Motorsports park in Riverside CA.
For those that are unaware, Adams hosts a weekly time attack night with three 1 - 1.5 hour sessions. The normal cost is 20 dollars per session. You go out and run 3 laps and then get back in line. Normally you will get three sets of laps per 1 hour session on an average night. If you stay the whole evening that comes out to 63 dollars (you have to pay 3 dollars to enter per person). It's a great deal and a lot of fun.

So how do you improve that? You rent the track! Our club is finalizing the details on a track rental which will come out to 75 dollars per participant for 10 cars to have the track from 6 to 10 pm on Friday, August 26th. You pay a little more than 10 dollars more to get almost unlimited track time for 4 hours.

Right now we would prefer to limit the event to thirdgen cars but if we are short of participants we would gladly open that up to other generation F bodies so please don't hesitate to let us know if you are interested.

Here is a link to their website: http://www.adamsmotorsportspark.com/

Track layout (we do the "optional course" in a clockwise direction):(IMG:http://www.adamsmotorsportspark.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/AMP-track-700x438.png)

Some video of my car (see my channel for more): http://www.youtube.com/embed/nkgMInrafGQ

In car footage from a quick s2k so you can get an idea of what it's like to drive: http://www.youtube.com/embed/Gp3wkIJKkHY

I've cut and pasted the details below:

We have reserved the road course at Adams Motorsports Park for the evening of Friday August 26th, 2011 from 6-10PM for our SC3G 3rd gen exclusive Time Attack event.

Time Attack is you and your 3rd gen versus the clock. Regardless of whether it is your daily driver or a dedicated track car, this Time Attack event will allow you push yourself and your 3rd gen around AMP’s fast and technical track while a stopwatch measures your every run.

Here is your opportunity to come out and test yourself against some of SC3G’s best drivers and fastest cars in a safe and controlled environment. This Time Attack session is not a driver’s only event; passengers are not only allowed but encouraged. Riding shotgun can be every bit as exhilarating as driving at an event like this.

In the interest of maximizing each participant’s experience, we will be limiting the field to 20 cars. However, we are wide open on drivers and passengers provided everyone attends the driver/passenger orientation at the beginning of the event.

Participant slots are being offered on a first come first serve basis. Participants that pay in full are guaranteed placement on the grid for this event. Those potential participants placing a deposit only, will have a slot reserved for them, however participants that are paid in full have priority placement which means you could potentially get bumped out of the event if we have 20 participants that are paid in full. This is the only scenario in which 100% of your $40 deposit will be refunded to you.

The cost for each vehicle is $75 of which a cash payment can be made at our club meeting Sunday August 7th as well as a minimum nonrefundable* cash deposit of $40 for those participants unable to make the entire $75 commitment that day. For members paying in full, a maximum refund of $35 will be returned to you provided I am notified of your intent to cancel no later than 6PM Wednesday August 24th, 2011. Any cancellation received after 6PM Wednesday August 24th, 2011 will result in a forfeit of your $35 refund.

Additionally, if you are unable to attend our August meeting and would like to participate in our SC3G Time Attack event, payments can be made via PayPal.

Please send the following amounts to przmm74@gmail.com with ‘SC3G Time Attack’ in the notes section.

Payment in Full* - $77.55 ($75+2.9% +.30 PayPal Fee)
* Maximum refund of $35 will be returned to you provided I am notified of your intent to cancel no later than 6PM Wednesday August 24th, 2011.

Deposit* - $41.50 ($40+2.9%+.30 PayPal Fee)
*Nonrefundable unless bumped out of event due to all participants being paid in full.

Balance Due* - $36.35 ($35+2.9%+.30 PayPal Fee)
*Must be received no later than 6PM Wednesday August 24th, 2011 or your position in the field will be forfeited.

Interesting! I have never heard of this place and been involved in racing since 1998. Is full-size car racing something new there?

They have been hosting time attack and drifting events weekly since some time in 2008. I started attending in early 2010. There is obviously no traditional wheel to wheel racing (outside of karts and motos) because the track is too narrow to accomodate that but it is a brilliant layout for time trials (what the import scene calls "time attack"). I find the course to be quite challenging without the risks associated with doing 100+ mph at a big track. I'm hooked on it to the point where I've essentially built a C-prepared car thats never been autocrossed. I just can't find the motivation to run one lap through some cones every once in awhile compared to this.

The guy who organizes the regular time attack has also run events at APEX raceway in perris which is a similar track albeit a bit faster.

That all said, we would absolutely love to see a CMC/American Iron car out there. If you'd like more details please feel free to ask, and if you know of any other racers that may be interested please let them know too.

Hey Pablo. Came into here to see the post. Vetruck is V6rsr. I used to have a completely modified 87 rs Camaro daily driver that recorded 1.07 sustained g's on a skidpad on factory IROC wheels and 220tw DOT street tires (factory sized 245-50-16's). The car also documented a 60-0 in 102 feet. Also happen to be a NASCAR supertreuck crewcheif currently. We are going to have alot of guys and gals out there at Adams with various racing backgrounds including an Ascot sprint car driver.

I am one of the coordiators of this event. Greygoose the other coordinator is closing a deal with a popular magazine to come out to this event to do a photo shoot and writeup for an upcoming article. Pablo is about 1 second off the 'supposed" track record in his camaro which is heald by this Jason Lee guy in his tiny track width s2000. If you look at the video his record is not official event thought hey boast it because the normal TimeAttack events have a standard tire barrier chicane obsticle placed 3/4 of the way down the back straight that was NOT pressent for this S2000's so call selfproclaimed record. He is firends with the track operators and they are trying hard to stay in front of both Pablo and Jerry in their 3rd gen Camaro's embarassing the imports with legal offical runs. Large American Iron is embarassing the dominate import track out in Riverside, come on out and lets all really make a statement and show multiple American full size Camaro's and Firebirds running the top times at Adams Motorsports Park. We have 2 required spots left to fill for our minimum 10 cars as it stands today. Thirdgen race road racers are a limited crowd and we would like ot keep this event pretty much all 3rd gens if possible for the potential magazibne coverage that looks like is going to happen.

Would love to see a few of you there. Julie, I have spoken to you in years past at California Speedway (probably around 2005)

Dean

Actually, the guy that coordinates the usual time attack told me that the record was a 43.3 in an evo with a japanese pro driver. I didnt get any specifics from him on whether or not it was the standard track layout or not. I have not seen anyone come even close to running a 43 second lap either in person or on the time sheets they put out weekly online.

Suffice it to say that in the time I have been paying attention to the time sheets, the fastest time I have ever seen has been in the upper 44 range which has been set a few times by two regulars in EVOs. I've run a 45.5 with a stock LB9 and a pretty much open rear so I hope to improve on that but who knows. The average participant times are in the mid to low 50s. I am leaving the country soon so if I don't set a new record at the track rental it may never end up happening (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Hi Dean, yes, I remember talking with you. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I would love to bring my '91 Formula with the stroker and T-56 out there! It is not together yet though and Riverside is very far from me. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Hopefully some of the SoCal CMCers will come, post up on the CMC board! There are two I can think of right away running third gens.
