Hey, you just HAD to have a IRS in your 3rd Gen. Everyone tried to talk you out of it, but Nooooooo, you just had to have a IRS in your 3rd Gen. I guess you could just put the car on a rotisserie and roll it on it's top to drain that thing.

When I got my Moser 9", the 'salesguy' at Moser didn't even recommend the drain or filler bungs. I had to order them after the fact, cut the holes, and find someone to weld them in. I could have been where you are; pull the pumpkin to drain the diff. Luckily, mine now slowly drains itself. So much for service at the sale.

If it makes you feel better it will be cleaner since you will spray it out with brakleen and wipe it with a rag I assume. See if you can get a pipe thread magnetic fill plug.

Know anyone who could weld a bung on the bottom of the bat wing?

Well I'd rather not cut, drill, or weld the cast aluminum on my rear diff. It's just not worth the risk of it cracking down the road, this Dana 44 stuff is too expensive.

I removed the diff so I can clean the inside out. StanIROCZ rebuilt it for me last winter, so this is it's first oil change and I wanted to clean it out. Also, it was leaking really bad(not Austin's fault), so I had to pull it to re-seal the batwing to the diff case. Hopefully after this I'll never have a leak and won't have to pull it for a long time, in which case I'll steal TPIJay's idea and use a drill pump. I also discovered a cracked bushing in the passenger camber rod, so I will be calling Banski for a set of heim jointed camber rods if funds allow.

Mr. Beaird, yes I had to have the IRS LOL. I mainly posted this for fun because its not something people normally see, especially in a lowly thirdgen. I'll consider your rotisserie idea if the drill pump thing doesn't work out!

You could have removed the fill plug and put a suction hose in there.

While you have it apart, better drill & tap the cover for NPT threads and use an allen plug. Much easier. It will not crack, I have run these with that mod and never had a failure.
