I just wanted to let everyone know that there is going to be two Indiana Auto-x events going on this coming weekend. Indy SCCA is having their second points event in Terre Haute on May 17th (this Sunday) at the Terre Haute International Airport. Go to www.indyscca.org for more info and how to register.

The other event is just across the border in Lawrenceville, IL on the 16th (Saturday) and is hosted by the Southern Indiana SCCA. It's at the Lawrenceville Airport (Mid-America) and you can find the info on it here: www.sirscca.org

Myself and quite a few of my friends will be heading to both of these events, so if you're going to be there, post here or send me a pm. It'd be nice to see a few more f-bodies.

Hope to see you there!

Josh

Hi, I also feel obliged to let everyone know about a couple of other Indiana Auto-X events coming up. The Indiana Northwest region, inr-scca.org, is having two races on May 23rd and May 24th, both at our new and absolutely huge lot at the Majestic Star Casino in Gary. We expect a big turnout so if you are interested, you can preregister online and we also now are taking payment online as well to expedite things. The Casino has been great and extremely supportive. They have helped make signs from their PR dept and have provided Hot food vendors on site during the events. Burgers, Dogs, Chips, pop, etc. The burgers and dogs were good and I ought to know since I had one of each! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)
It is a great site. It's actually right near/next to/on Lake Michigan so that stiff lake breeze will help keep everyone cooler in the summer! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
As Josh said above, Always looking for more F-bodies. This lot will let you lay the power down....

I hope to see some new faces there.

Any questions, just email me at DaveRN444@aol.com. Or you can go to the site I noted above, inr-scca.org.

Dave,

Thanks for the info! I won't be able to make those events, but I'll keep an eye on your schedule throughout the summer in case I get the urge to drive up from Indy.

Both events went well. It was a little wet during the first three runs in Lawrenceville, IL on Saturday. I tried to run some old BFG R1s even though it was damp out, but I couldn't get past 1/2 throttle without wheel spin, even in a straight line. So for the last three runs (which where in the dry) I swapped back to my street tires. There were ~35 total entrants and everyone had 6 runs. Results will be here when they're posted: http://www.sirscca.org/results/results.htm

The Terre Haute autocross had a huge turnout. 138 total entrants were split up into 4 heats. They gridded two heats at a time and were able to get everyone 5 runs. The course turned out nice, although I claim it was a bit 'miataized' from the original design. The two guys who revised it yesterday morning claimed it was to "smooth the course out." I'm on to their tricks (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) . Anyway, the concrete was super sticky and if all goes well there will be another event there next year. Results are posted here: http://indyscca.org/SoloFiles/SoloResults/...SoloResults.htm

The event even received some press in the local community: http://www.wthitv.com/dpp/news/news_wthi_t...w_20090517_1536

I was mid-pack in SMS (Street Mod Street Tire - a local class). I think all of the guys ahead of me were running softer tires. I was on 300 treadwear rated KDW2's. Most were on Toyo R1R's, RT615's, Potenza RE-01's, or kumho XS's. I also had at least one passenger each run. The course was fun with a lot of transitions. I think my old shocks were hurting me a bit on those, but there were a couple decent straights where I could put down some power.

The next Indy SCCA event is June 14th at Grissom (Peru, IN) and the next event in Lawrenceville, IL is a Southern Illinois Region event on June 7th. We need more f-bodies there!
