This is a frame mount low profile hidden receiver which came off my 1996 Camaro. It installs easily and tucks up under the car nicely. It should clear just about any exhaust type. I have had at least 3 different exhaust configurations work just fine- stock Z28 exhaust, aftermarket dual pipes, and a 4"mufflex single exit on the left.

Great addition to enable you to tow jet skis, utility trailer with your tires to track days, small trailer, etc. Installs very easily with 6 bolts (included).

I paid $200 for it, asking $95 OBO. Available in San Mateo for pickup, can look into shipping but could be pricey. If you are not local and want shipping estimate you can use 94403 as the zip it will ship from.

PM with E-mail if you'd like pics.

Thx

This is a good deal. I used to have one, and it served me very well for years. And, it truly was "HIDDEN" on my Trans Am. You could not see it unless you bent down and got level with the bumper.

Unfortunately, I'm in PA, but I have a few questions. Mfgr and part #? Also, was there any modification or does it bolt into existing holes?

thanks

Definitely no fab required. There's an existing square notch that already exists in the unibody frame rails that straddle the fuel tank. You slip the square backing plates into the rail, slide them over the existing 6 holes and then you slide in the bolts and you are good to go. Removal is just as easy. When it was new it came with a guide wire that made it easy but I used a simple magnet that worked just as well. It's no more than an hour project.

Not sure the brand or model. Pretty sure it's either a draw-tite or a reese but it's a reputable name brand that I bought through a towing shop that specializes in custom hitches. Used them for the hitches on all my trucks, etc. This unit is no Uhaul special or cr*ppy knock-off special. I can snap some pics if you'd like.

Also, 2 points I failed to mention- good news is there's very little rust (only on the inside of the receiver bar which is normal), bad news is this is primarily due to the fact that it's been coated with gear oil from when my pinion seal was puking there for a while. Good news is it will clean up nice and it acted almost as a preservative so paint's in good shape.

Also, this thing serves as an awesome jacking point. In fact it was probably used for that purpose far more than for towing over the years.

40 lbs is about $50.00, 50 is $60.00 to me.

Do you have an approximate weight?

I know this seems light but on a bathroom scale the difference between me and me+hitch was 33.5lbs. Seems heavier when you're holding it but that's what the scale says. Me=216.9 (yikes), Me+Hitch=250.4.

Some pics posted on the craigslist listing. Have not yet figured out how to post pics in this forum.

I've got 2 local parties interested so if none of those who were interested from this forum still want it I'm going to go ahead and let it go tomorrow. Speak now or forever hold your peace. ;-)
