When storing our camaros in the winter is there any adverse affect on taking the battery out. My plan was to take it out and bring it home and put it on a trickle charger. What will having the battery out of the car through the winter do to the computer?
It won't do anything. Removing the battery and keeping a battery tender on it in warm storage is the best thing you can do. Your ECM will need to re-learn the fuel trims when you start the car again, but it won't harm anything.
I take mine out. Once a month I put it in and start the car and let it run for 30 mins. The first time it starts up the idle is too low and rough, but high enough to keep it going (500rpm maybe). I do not give it gas, because if I do, when I let off, the engine will rev down to about 50, and then back up to about 500. So, after letting it run for about 60 seconds, I shut it off, wait 10 seconds, and restart it. After that the idle is fine (about 750 or whatever is normal) and then I let it run the rest of the 30mins.
